USC North American Alumni Association, Inc. continues their financial support

The administration, faculty, staff, and students at the University of the Southern Caribbean are extremely grateful to the USC North America Alumni Association, Inc. (USCNAAA) for their continued support and financial assistance to the University. In October 2017, President Hilary Bowman made an impassioned plea to the Association for financial assistance on behalf of the students affected by the destructive hurricanes of 2017. In that regard, the USC NCAA voted to dedicate the scholarship funds to those students affected as a one-time gesture and hence the total of US$22,979.00 was received and allocated to the [aforementioned] students.

In addition to the scholarship funds received, the USC NCAA presented two additional cheques at their annual Board Meeting of April 15, 2018, towards the Gideon Project (Ladies Dormitory Building) in the amount of US$36,000; and a cheque of US$6,000 towards the purchase of a Steinway Grand Piano for use in the Music Department.

Cheques being presented at the USC NCAA Board Meeting (LtoR: Lester Langford, Treasurer USC NAAA, Peggy Duncan, Alumni Coordinator USC, Hilary Bowman, President USC, Prakash Ramoutar, VP Finance USC, Slimen Saliba, President USC NAAA)

On behalf of the University administration and the USC Alumni Association, heartfelt appreciation is warmly extended to all those who selflessly contributed. Worthy of Special mention is accorded to the Southern California Chapter, who raised and contributed a substantial amount towards the effort.

One student in expressing…gratitude to the Association stated: “I wish to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt and sincerest gratitude to the members of the Association for your spirit of unselfish generosity. This scholarship award will go a long way in alleviating my financial burden at the University of the Southern Caribbean. Your generosity has further demonstrated that our God answers prayer and He indeed is still interested in the well-being of His children.”

We are delighted to extend an invitation to all our alumni and friends around the world who are gifted in various disciplines and interested in offering your support, talents, and expertise to help guide and nurture students in their quest for knowledge at USC. You can play your part and have a big influence on the lives of our current and prospective students.

Various opportunities exist for persons wishing to teach or provide other administrative services to the University. You can render your skillsets by volunteering to teach part-time during the regular semester, the summer session or preferably online.

There are several opportunities that presently exist that can enable you to selflessly give back significantly or in part to your alma mater. Others can consider volunteering during our myriad upcoming events; in the form of conferences, seminars, or other such events. Your expertise in serving as a guest speaker or panelist at one of our conferences or seminars would be graciously and warmly welcome.

If your respective organization(s) are open to including our gifted students, availing them of training in internships or permanent employment, we implore you to kindly share with us so that such a relationship between alumni and our varied student body-body can be accorded such an opportunity. We would like you our favored Alumni to partner with us to harness our networking possibilities as much as possible.

Even if you live abroad and plan to visit Trinidad and Tobago, your University has limited but very comfortable guest rooms at our two locations – Mountain View and La Realista, we humbly encourage and gently urge you to reserve your accommodation and reside with us at USC. Even if you are here on other business or vacation, why not take some time to come visit our clean, safe, secure and scenic Maracas Valley campus. We would be delighted to create the avenue for you to share your experience with our multi-cultural student body.

My attempt here to offer you an open door policy to help in the realization of the myriad of opportunities that are available for all and sundry to be part of TEAM-USC. These opportunities are open and readily available to both local and overseas alumni and friends. Why not drop us a line to explore more of that which is mentioned above?

If you are willing to share your expertise as part of the teaching profession, please send us an email at alumni@usc.edu.tt and kindly include the following:

  • Area of expertise
  • Bio or resume
  • State whether you are interested in teaching part-time, online or as part of a seminar
  • A preferred time during the year
